17-year-old boy breaks ICAN records

Jonathan Adewale, seventeen years old, has just become Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant, breaking the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria’s (ICAN) records.

At the 69th induction event for new members in Lagos on Wednesday, Adewale was named the youngest chartered accountant. A standing ovation welcomed his citation at the event.

Adewale, on the other hand, will have to wait another four years to be inducted into ICAN.
Before becoming a fellow, members must be 21 years old or older, according to the ICAN Act.

Today, 1277 chartered accountants were initiated into the profession.

His incentive, according to the adolescent from Ibadan, was his father, who had failed ICAN several times before ultimately becoming chartered.
Meanwhile, when Adewale is accepted, the governing board of ICAN has approved a full scholarship for his tertiary studies.

Earlier this year, Adewale completed the final level of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) test.
