In Plateau and Kaduna States, Operation Safe Haven troops killed a prominent bandit with the help of vigilantes and detained ten alleged armed robbers.
Major General Benard Onyeuko, the director of defence media operations, said in a statement on Wednesday, June 28, that during the operations, troops found two AK-47 weapons, 101 7.62mm special ammunition, five magazines, one motorcycle, an iron digger, and two black jackets among other things.
The statement said that on June 28, 2022, “Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN in a sustained effort to eliminate criminal elements in their Area of operation conducted clearance operation in conjunction with vigilantes at Kan Duniya Village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State, neutralized notorious bandit and kidnapper.”
“Similarly, on the same day, soldiers on battle patrol spotted two suspected kidnappers on a motorcycle in the vicinity of Sara High Ground Mangu Local Government Area in Plateau State. When the suspects saw the troops, they ran after leaving their motorcycle. The troop used the area as cover and found two AK-47 weapons, 101 7.62mm special ammunition, five magazines, a motorcycle, an iron digger, and two black coats among other things.

“During a cordon search operation in Fanock Village, Jema’a Local Government Area, Kaduna State, troops discovered an empty Toyota Corolla with the license plate ABUJA KUJ 452 AZ.
Additionally, on the same day, troops in Kafanchan Town, Jema’a Local Government Area, Kaduna State, detained 10 suspects in armed robberies.
Messrs. Manga Ismail, 22, Idris Haruna (Ban Sambo), 20, Sani Bali, 19, Shamsudeen Ladan, 25, Abdulmajid Yau (Sele), 22, Abubakar Hassan, 23, Abbas Aliyu, 15, Mohammed Umar (Jazuli), 17, Jonathan Vincent (Bamai), 19, and Stephen Joseph, 25, are among the suspects who have been detained.
Among the items taken from the offenders are a TV, DVD player, gas stove, mattress, speaker, phone, and scissors.
The accused are still being questioned.
