Nnamdi Kanu Appears In Court Today, Calls For Calm

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has urged his supporters to “keep utmost civility in their conduct, as they have always done” ahead of the case that will be heard on Tuesday (today) before Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja.

The IPOB leader, who is facing a terrorist trial, also claimed that he was in excellent spirits and that he was well prepared for the court appearance.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’s attorney and the head of his legal team, revealed them in a statement released on Monday during a routine visit to his client at the Department of State Services headquarters.

In his letter, he stated: “We visited our unflappable client, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, at the DSS headquarters as per the normal court-ordered visit.

“Today’s visit was special because the main goal was to synchronize the final legal plan for tomorrow’s excursion. Onyendu is in high spirits and is well-prepared for his court appearance tomorrow. We have faith that justice will be served tomorrow as well.

“Onyendu praised Umuchineke and the millions of his followers for standing by him so long. Onyendu is particularly concerned about Mrs. Ukamaka Ejezie (Mama Biafracontinuing )’s detention, whose only crime was the courage to be in Abuja in support of him.

The legal team is actively investigating all conceivable legal avenues to guarantee Mama Biafra’s release. You may be aware that the Court set July 20, 2022 for a definitive hearing on the application we submitted for her release.

“May we humbly utilize this medium to politely urge to Onyendu’s followers, friends and well-wishers who intend to come to Court tomorrow in solidarity with Onyendu, to please preserve utmost decency in their conduct, as they have always exhibited.”
