As part of the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, the Federal Government has said that N999 million will be spent to feed 10 million pupils every day (NHGSFP).
This was said by Aishatu Digil, who is in charge of the NHGSFP team, at a meeting of stakeholders on Tuesday in Abuja.
Digil said that Sadiya Farouq, who is the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, had been given permission to spend N100 per pupil per day.
She said that with N100, 9,990,862 pupils will be fed for 20 days each month.
“We used to feed schoolchildren for N70 per meal, per child.” “This has been going on since 2016, but the president has now given the go-ahead for a N100 increase.
“We are talking with the World Food Programme, the National Bureau of Statistics, the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), the ministries of agriculture and education, and others about how the money will be given out.
“We’re going to have “Egg Wednesday” every Wednesday, where each child in the program will give one egg… She explained, “Cooks get N10 stipends, and supervisors get N5 and N6 for micronutrient fortification.”
Digil also said that the program will fix bad ways of putting plans into action.
